Lector Team
Lay leaders who assist in leading the prayers and reading scripture during the Sunday morning worship service. Trainings are held quarterly.

Worship Planning Team
Assists the minister with various elements of worship service design and helps facilitate and encourage lay participation in worship. Meets monthly at time TBA.

Music Ministry
Encompasses the Chancel Choir (vocal) and the Resounding Joy Ringers (hand bells). 
Rehearsals on Thursday evenings.

Communion Servers
Assists the ministers with serving the Sacrament of Holy Communion celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.

Ushers, Greeters, and Shepherds Team
Ushers assist with the worship service. Greeters and Shepherds greet newcomers and make them feel welcome. 

Acolytes
Junior and senior high school youth that lead the congregation into worship by lighting the Chancel candles and reading the Call to Worship.

Sacred Movement Team
Explores ways to pray and praise using one’s own body. Focuses on dance prayers, techniques of movement meditation, basic dance exercises, and improvisation.

Sanctuary Arts Team
Makes sanctuary art, banners and altar clothes for each church season as well as decorations for the social hall for special events and celebrations.

Close to the Edge Players
Works to bring God’s wonderful message alive through dramatic readings and contemporary dramas that relate faith to our everyday lives.
 

Christian Education

Sunday School
   Weekly during Sunday worship for pre-K through 8th grade.
Nursery Care
   Weekly during Sunday worship for ages 6 months to 3 years.

Christian Education Ministry Team
Recruits and schedules Church school teachers, oversees the coordination of our nursery care, acts as a support and guide to the Coordinator of Youth Ministries and presents Children's Time during the worship service monthly. In addition, it organizes special events such as the Christmas Pageant, Easter Egg Hunt, and other activities. 
Meets 4th Tuesdays of the month at 7:30 pm.

Adult Education and Faith Sharing Groups
Six-week study and discussion groups offered in the fall and spring.

For 6th to 12th graders, meets every Sunday after Worship Service.

Community Outreach

Outreach Ministry Team
Coordinates and facilitates service opportunities intended to address needs and promote justice locally and globally. Meets 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

Good News Ministry Team
Administers the Good News Ministry Fund, which is intended to serve the concrete needs of the people of the Alameda community who are not served by existing social service agencies.

Welcoming Team
Welcomes visitors and extends the invitation to join the congregation in fellowship opportunities, introducing them to members while encouraging members to expand their own sense of welcoming hospitality.

Congregational Care and Fellowship

Circle of Prayer
Together, with both spoken word and silence, prays regularly that our families, our community, and our world be transformed by God’s miraculous love and wholeness. Usually meets 4th Sunday of the month to intentionally sit in God’s nurturing presence.

Congregational Care Ministry Team
Works with the pastoral staff to offer companionship, support and practical assistance to those in our community who are facing illness, grief, disability and other situations.

Prayer Shawl Ministry Team
Works with Circle of Prayer & Congregational Care, knitting or crocheting shawls of comfort to be loaned or gifted to people experiencing hardship and in need of a "portable hug."

Women’s Fellowship
Women of the church gather monthly, September thru June, to share stories, ideas, outreach projects, and a potluck salad bar lunch.
