On August 3rd, 2003 following a special meeting of the members of First Congregational Church UCC Alameda, the Rev. Laura Rose was overwhelmingly voted to be called as our Senior Minister. A thunderous applause followed the vote.
Rev. Laura brings a passion for creativity in worship, for empowering lay people to grow in faith, and for articulating a progressive faith in ways that extend God’s hospitality and justice. Her ministry is also characterized by a strong commitment to community building and service, believing we must “be the change we want to see in the world.”
In addition, Rev. Laura brings to her pastoral ministry her experience working in public relations/journalism as well as her experience working as a social worker in a shelter for homeless families and as a community volunteer with Central American refugees in San Francisco.
Before coming to FCCA, Rev. Laura was the Associate Minister at a UCC Church in Santa Cruz. She has a Bachelor of Science in Public Communications from Syracuse University, a Master of Christian Studies from New College Berkeley, a Certificate in Spiritual Direction and a Master of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary.
